Kristen Church is a multi-media artist whose work serves as a visual map of her journey from the bayous of Louisiana to the landscapes of North Carolina and Northern Virginia. Now splitting her time between Indiana and Nicaragua, Kristen draws on these diverse environments to create pieces that bridge the gap between industrial grit and whimsical tradition. Her work frequently juxtaposes the raw, urban energy of the train cars and graffiti passing behind her studio with the soulful, folk-art influences of her Southern roots and the vibrant textures of Central America. Working primarily in acrylic, oil, pen and pencil and encaustic on canvas, Kristen captures a unique sense of place that is both nostalgic and contemporary.
